The mysteries of the deep have been revealed in these jaw-dropping winning entries from the Ocean Art Photography Contest 2019.

A world of colour, usually unfathomable to the human eye, is captured in all its mysterious glory with 16 of the winning entries in this year’s competition.

Between 700,000 and one million species live in the world’s oceans, with only two-thirds of those species discovered and named.

With magical pictures capturing rays, whales and reefs in locations stretching from Japan to South Africa and Italy, the winning snaps showcase the true beauty of nature’s unspoiled deep-sea world.
