'Awful Lot of Traffic' Seen Crossing Into New South Wales Before Victorian Border Closes at Echuca

A long line of cars was seen trying to enter New South Wales from Victoria at the town of Echuca on July 7 as the border was closed at midnight due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in Victoria.

On July 6, New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the border would be closed after a conversation with the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Australian Defence Force personnel would be used to ringfence the Melbourne metropolitan area, which was placed under lockdown on July 8.
