Yahoo News Azealia Banks goes off on 'ugly' flight attendant after fight
Azealia Banks had another turbulent weekend.
The rapper, who was kicked off a Delta flight in 2015, took to her Instagram Stories to detail an incident over the weekend after she boarded an Aer Lingus flight from London to Dublin for a show. She said that after storing her luggage, a flight attendant asked her questions that she couldn’t answer without her passport. As she was looking for her passport, Banks said, the tension between them escalated.
Banks had harsh words for the flight attendants, calling them “ugly ass bitch Aer Lingus bitches.” She said that after the initial spat, one of the flight attendants “went a couple of seats over and was just, like, staring at me.” Banks said she told the woman, “‘Girl, don’t stare at me. I didn’t fill out, like, your Aer Lingus work application.’ She goes up to the captain of the plane and lies and says that I said, ‘Don’t stare at me, I’ll sort you out.’ I’m like, ‘What are you f***ing talking about? I’m from New York City, I don’t even say s*** like that.’”
Banks said that other crew members then crowded around her to “chastise me like I’m some kind of f***ing animal.” After being “cornered,” Banks said she got off the plane and was told she was banned from the airline. She went on to call them “evil and wicked,” and added, “It’s always the same s*** when I come to the U.K.”
Aer Lingus told the Irish Examiner that two passengers on the flight “got off the plane safely of their own accord.” A spokesperson added, “Aer Lingus has a strict no-tolerance policy towards disruptive guest behavior. The safety and security of our guests and crew remains our first priority.”
These kinds of incidents, Banks says, are normal in her world. “Getting singled out by the haggard, old white ladies, every f***ing time. … They’re like ‘Oh, who is this black girl in business class?’ … They always trying to play you like, ‘It’s not racism.’”
In videos Banks posted later, she is seen holding a bottle of wine as she walks through the airport, talking about the mistreatment of women in the music business. She brought up Kanye West, with whom she recently reconnected, then trash-talked. She said he tried to sign her but that basically she wouldn’t trust him to represent her because he would sell her out for “some f***ing artwork.”
Controversy is not new for Banks, who has a very long list of people she’s fighting with. Her dispute with singer Grimes, girlfriend of Elon Musk, is a part of a Tesla lawsuit. In October, she had a Twitter spat with Lana Del Rey. She’s also had drama with Russell Crowe, Cardi B and the cast and crew of Wild ’N Out.
In 2015, Banks was involved in another flight-related fight during which she allegedly tried to physically attack a man — and cursed at a flight attendant — while getting off a Delta plane in Los Angeles.
