Adorable baby born with mop of blonde hair "looks just like Boris Johnson"

A baby born with a mop of floppy blond hair has been described as the spitting image of Boris Johnson, much to the surprise of his dark haired parents.

When Tatiana Doronina, 35, and husband Ruslan, 43, found out they were expecting a baby, they expected him to have dark hair like them.

But instead, their son David came into the world on March 1 with long floppy locks, leading some to compare him to Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The comparison was mentioned before he’d even left hospital, by nurses who helped care for him after his birth.

Now, at three months, David's parents are regularly stopped in the street by strangers who can't help but comment on the baby's striking hair.

“David is like a celebrity," his mum says of the attention. "Everyone is literally going crazy about his look.

“People make the comparison to Boris the minute they see him.”

David was born weighing 9lbs 10oz but as soon as his parents saw him they were struck by the amount of hair he had, and how blonde it was.

“I thought he was so big but then I saw his hair and said ‘what?’, ‘how can his hair be so light?’" his mum continues.

“It was only after he was washed I realised just how much hair he had.

“I was so shocked, but every nurse who met him said the same, they couldn’t believe he was so hairy.

“He is a mini Boris, he looks just like him.”

After the comments in the hospital, his dad suggested they name their son after the Prime Minister, but his mum refused.

“We didn’t need to call him Boris for people to say he looks just like him, the resemblance is so obvious, it’s scary,” she explains.

Instead the couple opted to name their son after the Welsh patron Saint, St David, as he arrived on St David's Day.

“When he arrived overdue, on March 1, we read about the meaning of the day and really liked the name and also how it sounds in Russian too," David's mum, a former model and TV presenter, explains.

The couple from Surrey met in the UK and had a whirlwind romance, with Ruslan proposing three months after they met and marrying just six months after their first date.

As both have dark hair, they were shocked when their son was born with very blonde hair.

“We could not believe it," dad, Ruslan, who works in construction, adds.

“We have both asked family to find out where the blonde gene may have come from.

"We are both dark haired with an olive complexion but David has such fair skin and blue eyes.

“Nobody on either side of our family has blonde hair but my mother was born with fair hair so maybe he gets it from my side of the family."

Interestingly, David's mum did have a dream that her baby would be blonde but dismissed it as crazy because the couple are both so dark.

“I was 100% sure he would be dark haired," she says.

“My husband joked it was a good job he was conceived in lockdown, because he doesn’t look like us.

“I think some people must think he is not my baby."

Despite the length of David's hair, the family have no plans to cut it just yet.

“I am curious to see just how big it grows but it is already hard to manage," Doronina continues.

“When I wash his hair I try to style it but once it is dry it just sticks up everywhere.

“For now I have kept his hair completely natural but I think eventually it will need styling and I will blow dry it."

The family have set up an Instagram account for baby David, jokingly writing ‘not Boris Johnson’s son’ on his profile.

“I really don’t mind the Boris comparison, I know people would think it even if we didn’t realise ourselves,” his mum continues.

“I just hope Boris doesn’t mind.

“I hope his hair makes him stand out, I would like him to join a baby modelling agency and see where this adventure takes us.

“Maybe David will even be a future PM, you never know.”
