Baby’s best friend! Hero dog saves two-year-old girl from deadly snake and gets bitten himself

A heroic dog stopped his owner’s baby girl from being attacked by a deadly tiger snake, getting bitten himself in the process.

Boxer dog Mack saw the venomous snake just a few feet away from two-and-a-half-year-old Carmen Shaw as she played on a trampoline at her home in Tarneit, Melbourne, Australia.

Leaping into action, the loyal pooch rushed over and killed the four-foot snake but was bitten several times.

The venom left four-year-old Mack fighting for his life and he was rushed to a vet where he was treated for the bites.

His owner Jo Shaw, told Daily Mail Australia: “Carmen was jumping on the trampoline and the dog was running around in the yard.

“I walked away to load the dishwasher and I heard a clap of thunder. My daughter came running and she said, “Hi Mum, Mack’s not coming.”

“I went and found him frothing at the mouth and paralysed and he wasn’t breathing. My husband and I, we rushed him to the vet.”

Mack was given three doses of anti-venom and was suffering kidney damage from the poison.

Thankfully he recovered the next morning but the family were left with medical bills of over £3,550 and they have now set up a GoFundMe page to raise money.

Mrs Shaw added: “These complete strangers from all over Australia have been sending us so much love and support.”
