Baby's body found in snow-covered field near motorway bridge

A baby's body has been found in a field covered in snow near a motorway bridge. The grim discovery was made today, Wednesday November 20, near Salford, Greater Manchester, close to the M61 bridge, off the A5082 Cleggs Lane.

Emergency crews have scrambled to the scene and a forensic tent has been erected as investigations continue into the tragedy. Police are expected to hold a press conference later this evening, reports the Mirror. An image from the scene shows the forensic tent and a number of cops on the ground.

An ambulance was earlier seen in attendance off Cleggs Lane alongside police vehicles from 1pm today. Officers have been in attendance since then, with a spokesperson for the force confirming the remains of a young baby were discovered on Ravenscraight Road, near Ashtons Field in Little Hulton.
