Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Becca Kufrin were together on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose for the first time since Arie called off their engagement to pursue Lauren Burnham.

When Becca asked Arie why he had proposed to her even though he wasn’t ready, he said, “The pressure of being the Bachelor, knowing there is a timeline and having to make that decision on that day.”

Arie apologized, and Becca was kind enough to forgive him. “You were my fiancé, and I did fall in love with you, but at this point too, I’ve moved on,” she said. “I’m ready for the next chapter of my life, to be better, to find someone who is better suited for me.”

Becca didn’t have to wait long for love, because it was later announced that she would be the next Bachelorette. In fact, she even got an opportunity to meet some of the suitors she’ll be dating in her season.

Arie and Lauren revealed that they had started dating shortly after the engagement was called off, and luckily for Arie, Lauren hadn’t watched the first night of the finale. In that episode, Arie professed his love for Becca, then betrayed her and called off the engagement.

Even though she hadn’t seen how Arie’s mess was resolved, Becca was still proud of him. “I think that he did an amazing job at handling this whole thing,” she said. “And he couldn’t have gone about it in a more respectful way, and I’m really proud of him.”

Since it doesn’t get more romantic than talking about your ex-fiancée, Arie thought this was the perfect time to use his Neil Lane “buy one, get one 50% off” coupon on another engagement ring.

Arie proposed to Lauren, who said “definitely.” And the two revealed they would be going out of the country until the heat from Arie’s decision dies down.
