  • The Bachelor included a clip during the credits that mentioned the late Kobe Bryant.

  • Kobe sadly died yesterday in a helicopter crash at the age of 41.

We loyal members of Bachelor Nation know that the franchise is filled with twists and turns, but one twist that I’m sure absolutely no one saw coming was the subtle tribute that the show paid to Kobe Bryant tonight. I mean—this episode was filmed months ago!

Yesterday, the legendary NBA player tragically died in a helicopter crash, along with eight other people, including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. Celebrities and athletes have been mourning the loss of the basketball player, along with fans and admirers around the world.

If you’re one to leave the TV on after the episode ends, you’ll know that the show airs unseen footage while the credits roll. Tonight, producers chose a clip of contestant Victoria Fuller and Peter Weber playing a basketball game at Cedar Point amusement park. Victoria is waaay better than Peter, and as she watches him attempt to make a basket, she yells, “Kobe!” which you can see here:

Obviously, the moment was emotional for people watching the show, and most people on Twitter were just trying not to cry:

And just in case you’re wondering what else happened on the episode tonight, well, after Peter and Victoria hung out at Cedar Point they were serenaded by Victoria’s ex, country singer Chase Rice, which was a whole mess. And after that, Peter let Alayah back on the show, which basically caused the entire cast to have a meltdown. So it was business as usual for The Bachelor!
