KFC Is Selling Doughnut And Fried Chicken BurgersKFC

To paraphrase the great thinker Joey Tribbiani from Friends, doughnuts? Gooood. Fried chicken? Goood. Doughnuts and fried chicken? Gooood. Though it may seem like a truly strange pairing, KFC has announced that it's testing out a doughnut and fried chicken sandwich in America.

The sandwich is absolutely what it looks like; it will feature a piece of fried chicken between two glazed doughnuts for $5.99 (£4.60). It's actually just one of two pastry/chicken combinations the chain is testing out. The other is a Fried Chicken & Doughnut Basket meal, which includes chicken on the bone or chicken tenders paired with one doughnut for $5.49 (£4.25). You can make it two doughnuts $7.49 (£5.80) if you're feeling up to the task. Just want a doughnut? That will run you $1 (70p).

You may be scratching your head at the idea of doughnuts and fried chicken together, but as KFC pointed out, the combo has been popular in select places in the US of A, like Philadelphia, San Diego, and Portland in recent years. Plus, who doesn't love chicken and waffles? This trend just seems to take a sweet and savoury combo to the next (fried) level.

If you're looking to give this one a try, it's available now if you live in the Norfolk/Richmond, Virginia, and Pittsburgh areas. So no good for us Brits unless you're planning a holiday sometime soon...

It's just a test, but chances are if it's successful, we may get in the UK at some point. Finger crossed, anyway. In the meantime, I guess you can MacGyver this one by getting a hot dozen from Krispy Kreme and a bucket of boneless chicken from KFC. You can't really go wrong with that!
