BAFTA TV nominations 2019: BBC dominates with Killing Eve receiving SIX nods as Ant and Dec are nominated

Gripping assassin drama Killing Eve has dominated this year’s BAFTA TV nominations, bagging six nods including Drama Series and Leading Actress for stars Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh.

The BBC hit, whose second series will air later this year, will also see Kim Bodnia, who played Konstantin, and Fiona Shaw, who played Carolyn Martens, battle it out for Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.

The BBC has dominated this year’s nominations with A Very English Scandal receiving four nods and Bodyguard and Mrs Wilson picking up three each.

Leading Actor will see Hugh Grant (A Very English Scandal) go head-to-head with Benedict Cumberbatch (Patrick Melrose), Chance Perdomo (Killed By My Debt) and Lucian Msamati (Kiri) while Leading Actress will be a battle between Comer and Oh and Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard) and Ruth Wilson (Mrs Wilson).

Ant and Dec are up for two Entertainment gongs for Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway and Britain’s Got Talent despite Declan Donnelly being forced to front the remaining episodes of the ITV shows alone after Ant McPartlin announced his return to rehab.

But they will face competition from Strictly Come Dancing which is up for Entertainment Programme alongside Michael McIntyre’s Big Show. The BBC ballroom favourite was last year snubbed.

The full shortlist comes a day after nominations for the viewer-voted Must-See Moments was announced with the epic attack on Julia Montague in Bodyguard going head-to-head with Eve stabbing Villanelle in Killing Eve.

Love Island and Emmerdale are among the shows snubbed this year.

The crème de la crème of acting talent will be honoured at the ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, May 12.
