Bake Off Crème has own Paul Hollywood handshake moment
Bake Off Crème de la Crème continued its journey to find the, ahem... crème de la crème of pastry chefs this evening, as five new teams of professionals battled it out for a place in the semi-final.
But aside from tonight's (April 25) fiendishly difficult challenges, team tension and thumb injury(!), the standout moment came from judge Cherish Finden and her high five.
Before we get on to Crème de la Crème's version of the coveted Paul Hollywood handshake, though, there's the matter of who left the competition to address – and tonight, viewers said goodbye to Jenny and her team of self-taught sisters.
What becomes of the broken tarted? They leave #GBBOCreme. Best of the luck in the future, Team Jenny! pic.twitter.com/1PiOayU05p

Although it was touch-and-go for a while for Mark's team, their success in the showpiece challenge (which involved making 36 pavlovas, obvs) meant they lived to see another week.
Which was a total surprise for some viewers, as team member Alan proved to be somewhat of a liability in the kitchen, what with cutting his thumb open and burning the creme pat and all...

"He's being strapped up." For a cut thumb? What are they strapping? #GBBOCreme

Alan's a bit of a liability. Burns the creme pat, slices up vanilla pods and tries to hack his hand off. #GBBOCreme

Did Alan apply for Come Dine With me and end up on the wrong show? #GBBOCreme

I'm a bit worried about Alan. Those meringues might be the death of him. #GBBOCreme

Tense! Alan's having a bad day at the office #GBBOCreme

Despite Alan's mishaps, fans at home were looking forward to seeing him and his fellow chefs get back in the kitchen next week. Although not necessarily for the right reasons.
Sorry, Al.
Can't wait to see what Alan does next!! #GBBOCreme

So glad Mark's team got through so we can see more of the rising tensions between Mark and Alan when he makes another mistake 🙈 #GBBOCreme

I'm kind of glad Alan got through, if only to see what he manages to do next week. #GBBOCreme

More important than anything Alan could've cocked cooked up, however, is the fact that notoriously strict judge Cherish actually high fived someone tonight.
Viewers were understandably stunned to see Cherish finally pay someone a compliment, and of course delighted to have found Crème's equivalent of the #HollywoodHandshake.
That high five from Cherish must be the #GBBOCreme equivalent of a Hollywood Handshake on #GBBO
