Great British Bake Off fans DIVIDED as Terry 'blags' free pass - before Noel Fielding reveals NO ONE is leaving
A Great British Bake Off scandal left fans divided after Terry was granted automatic immunity, before host Noel Fielding surprised viewers by revealing no one was facing the chop this week.
Show bosses revealed Terry was unable to compete in week four due to illness and as a result was given a free pass to next week.
A statement on the show’s official Twitter account read: “Sadly Terry was unwell and unable to take part in #DessertWeek, but we’re delighted to say he will return in the next episode.”
The decision sparked mass debate online with many accusing the baking enthusiast of “blagging” his way through the competition while another angry fan blasted the move “ridiculous”.
One tweeted: “So let me get this straight? Terry goes ill, gets automatic qualification to the next round? Can someone explain how that’s fair?”
Another wrote: “I’m feeling conflicted. I really like Terry. But I don’t think anyone should be given a free pass, ill or not. Why’d you do this to me Terry???”
A third posted: “Shout out to Terry blagging a free pass into next week!”
Terry was bottom of the pack but now he’s automatically through to next week for being ill...I smell conspiracy #GBBO

Terry's ill so he gets an automatic pass through to next week?! How unfair #gbbo

Terry has been hanging in by the skin of his teeth and should have gone home by now and has a bye due to pulling a sickie. He would definitely be going home this week looking at the challenges #GBBO pic.twitter.com/H8AxkwTNKj

DID TERRY GET A FREE PASS TONIGHT?
WHY IS TERRY NOT HERE? WHY?#GBBO #BakeOff @BritishBakeOff— BANG BANG ROMEO (@BangBangRomeo) September 18, 2018
Terry allowed to skip a week 🙄
That’s ridiculous #GBBO— Bells (@elpedrotel) September 18, 2018
But viewers were later left in shock after Fielding revealed no one was leaving the competition this week as judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith agreed it would be unfair in Terry's absence.
As a result Fielding teased the possibility of a double eviction next week.
The contestants were this week tasked with making a rolling roulade signature, a raspberry blancmange for a 70s inspired technical and a melting mesmerising chocolate ball showstopper. Dan blocked a hat trick for Rahul by bagging Star Baker.
Next week is spice week which will see the contestants create gravity-defying showstoppers.
Great British Bake Off is on Channel 4, Tuesday at 8pm
