Channel 4 has big plans for Paul Hollywood beyond just the relaunch of The Great British Bake Off later in the year.
Paul is once again working with Bake Off's Love Productions on the hybrid docu-cookery series A Baker's Life, which Channel 4 says will introduce viewers to "the real Paul Hollywood".
Each episode will follow Paul as he reunites with the chefs who inspired him throughout his life, from his Merseyside childhood all the way to the Bake Off tent.
Along the way, the baker will also be whipping up some of his favourite treats and sharing the recipes that mark key moments in his life.
"Paul's credentials as one of Britain's most knowledgeable bakers are beyond doubt," Love Productions' Richard McKerrow said today (April 20).
"How he came to become such a great baker with a passion for everything to do with baking is a fascinating story that hasn't been told. We're excited to be working with Paul and Channel 4 to tell that story."
Channel 4 has commissioned five 60-minute episodes of A Baker's Life to premiere in the months ahead. The format is somewhat reminiscent of his co-judge Mary Berry's recent BBC Two series.
The commission of A Baker's Life was announced by Channel 4 on the same day as other big Bake Off-related news broke as well.
It was announced earlier on Thursday that Jo Brand had inked a deal with Channel 4 to move from the BBC to present Great British Bake Off spin-off An Extra Slice.
There are also reports that Channel 4 will be airing extra-long Bake Off episodes when the new series finally launches later this year.
