We don't want to alarm you or anything, but The Great British Bake Off has just whittled down its final four contestants. Yes, the semi-finals are almost upon us already.

This week, Channel 4 gifted viewers with another brand new theme in the shape of Forgotten Bakes, and it was as weird and wonderful as it sounds.

In a series of challenges that had us frantically Googling what the hell Paul and Prue were after, the five remaining bakers had to present creations that were probably forgotten for a reason.

(Sorry, not sorry.)

After creating four sweet and savoury Bedfordshire Clangers, the technically challenging Rum Nicky and a showstopping Victorian Savoy cake, the winners and losers of the week were decided.

Despite breaking her oven door clean off – and we do mean properly off – Stacey's "amazing textures" and over-zealous lattice work saw her crowned Star Baker.

But as well as celebrating the fact that Steven finally had a week off at the top, viewers were lamenting over the loss of fan-favourite Liam, who sadly said goodbye to the tent.

After serving up "raw" Rum Nickys and a "haphazard, topsy-turvy" Savoy cake, it was Liam's time to bid farewell to the competition. We'll miss you, Liam! (And your nan.)

The Great British Bake Off continues next Tuesday (October 24) with the semi-final (!) Patisserie Week on Channel 4 at 8pm.
