One viewer joked that the showpieces were 'like Jenga'

Bake Off: The Professionals viewers held their breath as the contestants tackled a tricky challenge they predicted would be "a car crash".
Monday night's instalment (17 June) of the Channel 4 cooking contest - which sees pastry chefs going head to head in the kitchen - saw the remaining bakers tasked with making an intricate showpiece featuring 160 choux buns. The bakes had to be inspired by a circus theme.
But the complicated challenge proved to be tough, with many of the chefs using nougatine, a sugary bark, and then struggling to get it to stay up.
What, how and why?
The hopefuls had five hours to make their culinary creations, which included an elephant and a circus tent. But fans of the series were quick to point out that the bakers were going to have building issues as they came up with ambitious ideas in a bid to impress judges Cherish Finden and Benoit Blin.
"Omg nougatine," one person wrote on X. "What have we learned, beyond all question, about nougatine over the years? IT IS NOT A STRUCTURAL MATERIAL."
"OMG, that circus tent is never going to stand up!!" said someone else, as another viewer remarked: "Spilt nougatine." "Ooh, that balancing elephant.... fingers crossed, but that sounds like a car crash in the making!" said another viewer.
As the challenge progressed, several contestants had problems getting their cakes to stand up, with tension flaring as bits dropped off or the structures wobbled.
One viewer said it was the "saddest circus". Another shared a GIF of the Leaning Tower of Pisa as they joked: "How much some of the creations are leaning over... it's like Jenga!"

Elsewhere, fan favourite Gerol ended up in tears after the judges declared that one of her pastries wasn't cooked well enough. The pair loved Gerol's flavours but thought the bun was uncooked in the middle.
She started to cry as they delivered their verdict, brushing away tears as the rest of the contestants looked on sympathetically. Finden was touched as Gerol cried, and walked around her cooking station to give her a cuddle and console her.
"Cherish giving a hug?!" commented one viewer on X, as others said how much they still loved Gerol.
"Oh Gerol!" said one, with a blowing kiss emoji. "Gerol is still a queen," said another.
