The Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond suffered a major fall in the latest episode, with fans left reeling following the blunder.

The Channel 4 show returned on Tuesday (November 12) as the remaining five bakers – Christiaan, Dylan, Georgie, Gill and Illiyin – entered the tent for the quarterfinal, with the theme being the 1970s.

Halfway through the episode, Alison – who presents the show alongside Noel Fielding – strutted into the tent, as she wanted to bring a bit of “happiness” to the bakers, before perching on one of the stations as she looked across the floor.

As she whipped her leg around, Alison took a tumble and fell off the counter, with the fellow bakers looking on with grins as Alison remained embarrassed on the floor. Noel subsequently came over to jibe her, saying it was the “best thing” he had ever seen.

Noel and the bakers weren’t the only ones to find humour in the incident, with several fans taking to social media to express their joy, with one writing on X/Twitter: “She is one of the best things that ever happened to the show!!”

“I laughed when this happened and it brought me back to when Alison was on big brother all those years ago, jumping on the picnic table and going through it.. like the legend that she is... love how she laughs no matter what happens.... a joy to watch” another fan added.

“Bless her. What was she trying to do? That's what I'm still trying to figure out!” asked a third fan, with a fourth remarking: “I was crying with laughter I hope she was ok and it was just her ego that was bruised.”

“I spat my drink out I love Alison Hammond so much,” a fifth viewer noted, with a sixth writing: “Never change Alison, NEVER CHANGE!”

Another said that Alison should be declared as “Mayor of Birmingham,” while one viewer said the incident was “truly one of the greatest moments on British tv.”

The Great British Bake Off and its spin-off Bake Off: An Extra Slice both air on Channel 4 in the UK. In the US, it's known as The Great British Baking Show, and streams on Netflix.
