Bake Off's Prue Leith Makes Another Accidental RuPaul's Drag Race Reference

From Delish

At this point, The Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith might be a RuPaul's Drag Race superfan without actually even knowing it.

The baking judge has been a part of several references to the drag competition throughout her time on Bake Off, including a nod in Tuesday's (29 September) Biscuit Week episode.

Prue and her fellow judge Paul Hollywood were strutting across the main stage making their way around the socially-distanced Bake Off tent as part of the Signature Round, where the bakers were challenged to make Florentines.

When it came time to taste Sura Selvarajah's chocolate-dipped biscuit, Prue inadvertently used one of Drag Race's catchphrases while asking about the drink options.

"And what's the tea?" she wanted to know.

As anyone who watches Drag Race will know, the phrase "what's the T/tea" was popularised (though not invented) on the show as the drag queens try to get to the bottom of whatever drama is happening in the Werk Room.

One Bake Off viewer was amazed: "I can't get over Prue asking 'what's the tea?'"

"Prue saying 'what's the tea' is the gift I've been waiting all 2020 for," another quipped, while a fan joked: "I am LIVING for Prue saying 'what's the tea?' to Sura."

Prue's big question was only the latest reference to Drag Race on Bake Off – intentional or otherwise. When Prue joined Bake Off in 2017, Noel Fielding suggested renaming the show Prue Paul's Drag Race!

The culinary icon later paid tribute to Drag Race icon Alyssa Edwards by giving one of the drag queen's signature tongue pops after one pungent cake during Spice Week.

How do we get her on RuPaul's Drag Race UK as a judge next series?
