Two balaclava-wearing thugs 'showed a knife' to a teenage boy before attacking him and stealing his bike. Now detectives have launched an investigation over the robbery in Poynton.

The boy was riding his silver Boardman MTR 8.6 bike along Chester Road, in the direction of the train station, when he was approached by two men on a black moped. Described as being aged between 19 and 21, they were wearing black tracksuits and balaclava.

During the robbery, which took place between 5pm and 5.15pm on June 1, they 'showed the victim a knife' and assaulted him. The thugs then left the scene, with the bike, in the direction of the A555.

Detective Sergeant Keith Graham, of Cheshire Police, said: "We would like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to trace those responsible. We are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to get in touch with us, as well as anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of what happened.

"We would also like to appeal to anyone who may have seen those matching the description of the suspects in the nearby area either before or after the reported incident."

Witnesses should call the force on 101 and quote IML-1837472. Information can also be provided online here.
