Yahoo News Balatro, UFO 50 and Animal Well among 2024 Indie Game Awards nominees
Nominations have been revealed for the inaugural Indie Game Awards.
The event, aimed at recognising excellence in independent gaming, features a total of 15 awards categories, including Innovation, Narrative, Women-Led Game, and Game of the Year.
The judges on the jury comprise of games media professionals, showcase organisers, influencers, and industry experts.
The ten nominees for Game of the Year are as follows:

Animal Well
Arco
Balatro
Crypt Custodian
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes
Mouthwashing
Neva
Nine Sols
UFO 50

It's been an excellent year in indie gaming, with games such as Crow Country, The Crimson Diamond, The Plucky Squire, Pacific Drive, Kind Words 2, Little Kitty, Big City, Ultros, and Thank Goodness You're Here picking up nominations as well.
The winners will be announced on December 19, with the event streaming on IGN and YouTube.
Earlier this week, Animal Well, Balatro, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, Neva, and UFO 50 received nominations for Best Independent Game for this year's The Game Awards.
Balatro was also nominated for Game of the Year, alongside Astro Bot, Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
