Shoreditch’s popular ball pit bar, Ballie Ballerson, is celebrating its fifth birthday next week by giving away thousands of free drinks.

The Curtain Road spot turns five on Wednesday November 3 and is giving away thousands of free tickets for its celebratory party. Tickets offer free entry, and those who get in will be able to claim three free drinks each. Ballie founder Wenny Armstrong told the Standard that she anticipates giving away 10,000 drinks in all.

Things will begin at 6pm, though Armstrong said should there be sufficient demand, she would be willing to open earlier if needed. Closing time will be somewhere around 2am.

“Free entry, three free cocktails and free balls are the least we can do to say thank you — whether it’s your first or your 10th time with us, we couldn’t have gotten here without you. Dress code is party hats” reads the Ballie press release.

While Armstrong and the team will be handing out thousands of tickets, the venue is limited to a rolling 750 capacity, so entrance will be done on a first come, first served basis. Tickets can be bought here.

Ballie Ballerson first began in 2016 as a pop-up in Dalston, before moving a year later to Shoreditch following the initial hype; across its 4,000 square foot site, the two pits have more than a million balls between them, which are cleaned, disinfected and dried every day. Over its five years, Ballie has drawn half-a-million guests, including a host of celebrities, from Stormzy to Davina McCall and James Corden. TikTok star Addison Rae, recently banned from the social media platform, is also said to have been.

Ballie Ballerson’s fifth birthday is being celebrated on November 3 at 97-113 Curtain Rd, EC2. For more information, visit
