New bar opening for The Thornwood team as Bearsden Athletic Club plans unveiled
The team behind a hugely popular pub in the west end are set to open a second venue in Bearsden.
Marc Ferrier, owner of The Thornwood on Dumbarton Road, and his team have set their sights on the former 55 Bearsden Cross pub with a view to changing it in to the area's latest exciting venture, Bearsden Athletic Club.
After teasing fans about where they could be going, Marc and the team took to Instagram to reveal their news, posting "Let’s go Bearsden", and adding: “Keys keys keys. Very excited, proud, nervously stressed out my tiny little mind.

“55BC in that Bearsden will soon be Bearsden Athletic Club. People said get up here, smash some margaritas, do the Thornwood vibe. I said ok let me ask Sarah if we can smash the savings account and here we are."
Set to open at 28 Drymen Road later this year, it's exciting news for drinkers in the area.
Having taken over and transformed the Thornwood Bar in 2019, the team have grown a cult following thanks to their epic social media posts, brilliant service and updated food and drink offering.
And fans including customers, brewers and fellow businesses all flocked to the comments to congratulate the team.
One delighted person responded: "Well this is exciting!"
While another added: "Looking forward to the opening party."
We can't wait to see what they do with the place, with no opening date yet confirmed, we'll let you know as soon as we know more.
