Gateshead revellers have been flocking to the newest bar in town over the last few weeks, as the high street's 'hidden gem' had a glam makeover and opened its own roof garden.

Over the years, there haven't been many new hospitality businesses opened on Gateshead high street, with old favourites like The Grey Nag's Head, Curley's and Ye Old Fleece still pulling in the punters but now there's a new kid on the block. Say hello to The Tynesider Bar & Grill.

The Tynesider is a microbar on Gateshead High Street, founded by Lee Miles. A builder by trade, Lee constructed the bar himself, driven by his desire to revitalise his childhood neighbourhood. Since opening earlier on in the summer, the new hotspot has been pulling in the customers and, now thanks to a transformation, with help from the North East's own Pretty Picture Company, who have now worked their magic all over the UK, the bar is now getting even more attention.

As well as a plush looking downstairs area, which has become popular with people after a few drinks with their mates, a bit of a dance or to watch Newcastle United or England on the TV, The Tynesider also has also its own roof garden, ideal for al fresco drinks should everyone's dreams of an Indian summer come true,.

As well as hosting its own pop icon themed party for the recent Gateshead Pride celebrations, The Tynesider also had an eye catching rainbow mural painted outside for the occasion, before it had people dancing away for its Northern Soul special on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Talking about his new venture, owner Lee said: "“We wanted to bring something special to Gateshead, a place where people could come together and enjoy the best our community has to offer. The Tynesider is about celebrating local talent and creating a space that everyone can be proud of.”
