Since then, an outpouring of support of wishes have bee shared by fellow celebs and fans alike, as Babs takes a step out of the limelight to concentrate on her health.

This week, she appeared on Loose Women (via a recorded message) to celebrate presenter Jane Moore’s 56th birthday.

‘Hi Jane and all the Loose Women,’ the former Carry On star began.

‘It’s Barbara Windsor here, and I just want to wish you a very happy birthday, darling Jane.

‘And thank you, thank you so much for being a loyal and good friend and helping Scott share my recent news.

‘And I’d also like to say a big thank you to everyone for the lovely messsges and support I’ve been receiving. It really means such a lot to me, it really does.

‘Have a great day and have no fear, I still intend to carry on – and God bless everyone!’

Jane was, as predicted, left in tears with the lovely message -which in turn set eveyone else off.

‘I can’t protect her any longer,’ Scott, 55, said when interviewed by the Sun.

‘And, since her 80th birthday last August, a definite continual confusion has set in, so it’s becoming a lot more difficult for us to hide.’

He also said that she ‘comes alive’ whenever they go out with friends, but is sadly ‘lives in constant terror’ that she might have a panic attack, or ‘get photographed when she’s not looking right’.

The decision to go public with the news of her illness and retire from the world of television and acting has come at a time when he reveals that her symptoms ‘grew steadily worse’ over the past couple of weeks.
