Barcelona 'prepare opening offer' as Liverpool get £13m discount transfer option
The future of Federico Chiesa is still up in the air amid links to Liverpool and the Premier League. The Italian has been frozen out of Thiago Motta's Juventus squad for the new season and has been told to find a new club.
It has been claimed that Juvenuts would demand a fee worth £13million (€15m) for Chiesa, which is a significant comedown from their previous asking price which was thought to be around around £26m (€30m). However, it appears that if Liverpool don't act before next week's deadline, they are at risk of missing out on his services.
Italian outlet Tutto Juve (via Inside Futbol) claims Barcelona are 'preparing' to table an offer for Chiesa as Juve look to recoup some funds. Chelsea are thought to have also explored a swap deal for Chiesa with Raheem Sterling following the arrival of Pedro Neto and Joao Felix.
It's claimed Barcelona's opening offer will be around the £9m (€10m) mark, which falls below Juve's asking price. The La Liga outfit are believed to have also prepared a contract offer for the player which is stated to be worth £5m (€6m) per season.
As for the Reds, they are yet to complete their first signing of the summer after missing out on Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. It's not the first time Chiesa has been linked with a move to Anfield, with the first link emerging in 2021 after he helped Italy win Euro 2020.
With Mohamed Salah's contract at Liverpool also expiring next summer, the Reds have been tipped to move for a new right winger in this current window. However, Chiesa's future is far from being resolved.
With that said, replacing Salah with just one player is all but impossible.
