Barcelona vs Tottenham LIVE: Confirmed team news and Uefa Champions League commentary

Barcelona vs Tottenham
Champions League 2018-19
Venue: Camp Nou
Kick-off: 8pm

Tottenham go into their final match of the group stages knowing that their fate is entirely in their own hands tonight.

The only problem is, however, that they face the unenviable task of needing a result against Barcelona at Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi inspired Barca to a 4-2 victory over Spurs when these sides met at Wembley Stadium earlier in the campaign, and Spurs head to Catalonia knowing that they must better Inter Milan’s result against PSV to progress to the knock-out stages.

Team News

Ernesto Valverde Ernesto will make some changes to his side for tonight’s Champions League clash against Tottenham at Camp Nou.

With first place in Group B already confirmed, Valverde said on Monday that Luis Suarez definitely will not start after the Uruguayan returned from injury in the 4-0 win at Espanyol on Saturday.

Valverde would not reveal whether he would also be giving a rest to Lionel Messi, saying he did not know whether the Argentine would start “two games in three days” following his recent injury layoff.

If the Argentine does start, it is likely to be in the role of false nine, with Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho either side of him.

Arthur is back from injury and could return in midfield, while there may also be an opportunity for some of the young players like Carles Alena and Juan Miranda.

Jasper Cillessen is set to start in goal.

Mauricio Pochettino, meanwhile, is facing a major selection headache at right-back ahead of the trip to the Camp Nou with both Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier doubts for the final group match.

England full-back Trippier is not expected to travel having suffered a recurrence of a groin injury with Aurier forced off late on in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Leicester.

It means the Kyle Walker-Peters is likely to start at right back.

Elsewhere, Erik Lamela is struggling with a thigh injury, while Davinson Sanchez, Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele are all out.

Probable line-ups

Barcelona (4-3-3): Cillessen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Miranda; Busquets, Alena, Arthur; Dembele, Messi, Coutinho

Tottenham (4-3-3): Lloris; Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dier, Sissoko, Eriksen; Son, Kane, Alli
