A Barclays customer has been left struggling to access their funds after two of their bank cards were allegedly targeted by fraudsters. The concerned customer reached out to the bank for immediate assistance, stating: "I had to cancel my card on Tuesday due to fraudulent activity. I've been sent a replacement but currently waiting on delivery.

"In the Barclays app, there's a digital version of the new card but it's being declined for payments and I've received a text of more fraudulent activity on this new card, apparently. I can't reply "N" to the text because the one payment isn't mine but the others are.

"What do I do as I need to pay for travel to and from work today? I can't withdraw cash as I have no card and I can't use the digital form." Barclays responded by inviting the customer to send a direct message to assist with their query.

The Barclays website provides advice to customers who notice an unexpected payment has been made from their account, explaining that it may not necessarily be fraudulent. This could be due to a company trading under a different name, a payment from another account holder, or a recurring payment such as an online service where a free trial has now ended.

The site further advises: "If you still think the payment is fraudulent, or you've been scammed and have lost money, please report it to us as soon as possible so we can look into it for you. There are different numbers to call depending on whether you're reporting fraud or a scam, and where you are."

If you're in the UK and need to report a fraud incident, you can reach out to different numbers depending on the nature of the fraud. For issues related to a debit card account, dial 0800 3891 652 or for Barclaycard-related fraud, call 0800 318 665. For other types of fraud, the number is 0800 3891 652, and Barclays Partner Finance Fraud can be reached at 0800 15 22 888.

For those overseas wishing to report a fraud incident, the numbers are slightly different. For debit card-related issues, call +44 160 452 9410 and for Barclaycard-related fraud, dial +44 1452 828 309. For other types of fraud, the number is +44 160 452 9410, while Barclays Partner Finance Fraud can be contacted at +44 123 668 1763.

Before making the call, ensure you have all the details of the transaction you want the bank to investigate. After reporting the incident to Barclays, the bank also advises you to report it to Action Fraud on 0330 123 2040.
