'Bargain of the century': Lord Sugar to pay £5,000 to silence Piers Morgan on Twitter for entire day

Lord Sugar has vowed to pay £5,000 to silence Piers Morgan on social media for an entire day.

On Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain Morgan pledged to be separated from his phone if the British public raised the money for Comic Relief.

Shortly after the announcement Lord Sugar posted a video on Twitter declaring it the “bargain of the century” and offering to pay out the entire sum.

He said: “Five grand to silence Piers Morgan for a whole day on Twitter? That’s the bargain of the century.

“Comic Relief, send me the bill straight away. I’ll pay it immediately.

“It’s gonna be a wonderful day without that nutter clogging up the whole of Twitter with his nonsense for the whole day.”

The fundraiser will see the outspoken broadcaster separated from his phone for 24 hours on Friday, with the 51-year-old admitting it would be “utter torture” for him.

And the life-long Arsenal fan vowed later not only to stay off his phone, but to wear a Tottenham Hotspur shirt for a full day, if a bumped up target of £50,000 is reached.

Many celebrities have already taken to his JustGiving page with donations, including Holly Willoughby, Bradley Walsh, Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Savage and Jamie Redknapp.

The long-standing rivalry between Morgan and Lord Sugar began in 2007 when Morgan took part in Comic Relief Does The Apprentice, with the pair have frequently feuding on Twitter since.
