Angelica Olawepo from the Conservatives received 100 votes while Olumide Adeyefa from the Lib Dems received 49 votes. The Northbury ward by-election was triggered after former council leader and Northbury ward councillor, Darren Rodwell resigned from both roles in September.

Dominic Twomey, who is a councillor for Gascoigne ward, has since become the leader of Barking and Dagenham Council. Following the death of Cllr Phil Waker's brother, Lee in July, a by-election was triggered for Village ward. Lee had been a Village ward councillor for over 22 years, having first been elected in May 2002 and was successfully re-elected five more times.

Another by-election for Village ward was triggered after Margaret Mullane resigned from her councillor role after she became the Labour MP for Dagenham and Rainham in July. Following the death of Glenda Paddle on November 13, a notice of casual vacancy for Whalebone ward has since been announced on the council website.

Glenda had been a councillor for Whalebone ward since 2018, and had served as chair of the overview and scrutiny committee since 2022. Barking and Dagenham Council currently has 49 Labour councillors and one Independent councillor.
