Yahoo News Barrowman wants to be I'm a Celeb's gender fluid winner
John Barrowman has just been announced for the cast of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here 2018, but is already planning to make history as the show's first-ever gender fluid winner.
Barrowman's most famous role is as the omnisexual time traveller Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood, a character who has often broke ground since his introduction nearly 15 years ago.
Now that John is venturing into the jungle, the West End and Broadway veteran thinks it's high time that someone breaks ground for gender identity on I'm a Celebrity.

"I would be over the moon if I won," John said. "I would be the King or Queen of the Jungle."
John is a self-proclaimed I'm a Celebrity super-fan, but the realisation of having to actually do all of those creepy crawly trials is only beginning to dawn now.
"I will have to really figure [the trials] one out when it happens as I know filming Torchwood, there was a scene where we filmed in a coffin," he recalled. "They put me in a coffin in a drawer and I couldn't do it.
"It was see-through and so I could see space but I couldn't do it. I had a panic. That might be the challenge that is most fearful for me. But realistically, you know they are not going to do anything that hurts you.
"And OMG, I want to do the trials, for sure. I want people to vote for me. I want to keep myself busy."
John will be competing to win the jungle crown alongside football manager Harry Redknapp, EastEnders legend Rita Simons, The Governess from The Chase and more – for the full rundown of the cast, click here.
