HBO dark comedy Barry's third season is finally underway, with production officially confirmed to have started.

The acclaimed series, which sees It Chapter Two's Bill Hader star as a hitman who decides to change-up his life and join an LA theatre company, has been off air for over two years.

In fact, the last episode aired the same night as the Game of Thrones series finale in 2019, if you want to feel really old.

However, HBO has thankfully revealed that work on season 3 is now happening with a photo of Hader and co-star Henry Winkler (Gene Cousineau).

"Time for another hit. #BarryHBO is back in production for season 3," they wrote.

Hader previously revealed that season 3 was primed to begin production just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit last year.

"Season 3 is completely written and ready to go, and then during this time we actually went and wrote season 4, so we have both of those done," he told Seth Meyers in January. "We're just waiting until we can start shooting again."

Alongside Hader and Winkler, Barry also stars Stephen Root as handler Monroe Fuches, Sarah Goldberg as actress Sally Reed and Anthony Carrigan as mafia member NoHo Hank.

Barry airs on HBO in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
