The Royals have lost 13 of 18 to the Tigers and dropped 2 1/2 games behind the defending American League Central champions. - - - Cubs 8, Dodgers 7 Left fielder Chris Coghlan went 4-for-4 and hit a pair of home runs to lift Chicago to a comeback win over Los Angeles. Coghlan reached base five times for the Cubs, who scored four runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to erase a five-run deficit against the Dodgers. - - - Phillies 3, A's 0 Jerome Williams pitched seven shutout innings and made history as Philadelphia beat Oakland, dealing a blow to the A's wild-card playoff hopes. Williams improved to 3-0 against the A's this year, becoming the first pitcher to beat the same team three times in a season while pitching for three different teams. He made three relief appearances with Houston against the A's, and picked up the victory on April 26 in an Astros win. Then in a start against Oakland for the Texas Rangers on July 25, he gave up one run in six innings of a victory. - - - Rockies 5, Diamondbacks 1 Eddie Butler made his second major league start for Colorado and came away with his first victory as the Rockies beat Arizona. The Rockies won their fifth straight, matching their season-high, while the Diamondbacks dropped their fifth in a row. - - - Blue Jays 6, Yankees 3 Jose Bautista homered and scored four times and Marcus Stroman pitched through six gutty innings as Toronto halted a season-high six-game losing streak with a victory over New York.
