Basildon restaurant’s hilariously brutal response to customer after one-star review
A restaurant in Essex has delivered a devastating reply to a customer who left a one-star review online. DB Shack in Basildon labelled the customer 'Captain Moron' after the "glowing one-star review".
The popular burger company, based in Castlemayne in Basildon, was recently shortlisted for an EssexEats award in the Takeaway category. DB Shack is a highly-rated food outlet online and has been named among the world's best restaurants through TripAdvisor.
DB Shack, owned by Wayne Bond, said they received a critical one-star reply from "a discerning burger aficionado" on Facebook. They added: "Apparently, our 'Cheeseless and Sauceless Delight' aka The Marrowbone Melt Burger was *shockingly* missing cheese and sauce. Who would've thought? Next time, we'll make sure to add an extra scoop of invisible toppings that it doesn't come with just for you Captain Moron!!"

The one-star review was left on Google by a user with the name 'G J'. The short review said: "One-star for invisible sauce and cheese".
But the owner's brutal reply said: "You ordered the Marrowbone Melt Burger.... it doesn't come with Cheese or Sauce as described on the menu. You left a 1 star review about lack of cheese or sauce in a burger that doesn't come with those, but failed to mention what a taste sensation the actual burger is with the Marrowbone running through it or the Chimichuri dressing.... Good luck in life and your journey of 1 star reviews, it seems that's all you like leaving for businesses."
The restaurant serves burgers made from choice cuts of beef chuck or brisket on brioche buns, with options including “The Pig One” (£11), containing BBQ pulled pork, bacon and cheese, and “The Thai Veggie One” (£7.50), a Thai-influenced veggie burger topped with sriracha mayo.
