Bat Rescued From Barbed Wire Enjoys 'Smoothie' During Recovery

A bat that became entangled in barbed wire enjoyed a tasty smoothie while recovering from its ordeal at an animal rescue center in Rochedale South, Queensland.

Footage of the bat, which was given the name Alex by its rescuers, was posted online by Queensland-based Denise Wade, who has been caring for injured baby bats for more than a decade.

In a description alongside the video posted on YouTube on October 1, Wade wrote, “barbed wire entrapment keeps us busy all year round.”

She added, “Following a restorative rest in a warm humid crib and lots of fluids and a smoothie, Alex was moved to our flight aviary to continue his rehabilitation.”
