Bath Rugby have been handed a double injury boost ahead of Saturday’s derby with Bristol Bears in Round Three of the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership.

Scotland international centre Cam Redpath and England international flanker Sam Underhill have both fully recovered from respective shoulder and ankle surgeries in the summer and are available for selection this weekend. However, Bath’s head of medical services Rory Murray has confirmed that both starting wingers from Sunday’s 20-15 win over Leicester Tigers, Joe Cokanasiga and Will Muir will miss the match at the Recreation Ground as expected.

Cokanasiga is going through the 10-day minimum return to play protocols after taking a blow to the face after a collision with Izaia Perese, which resulted in the Tigers’ player receiving a yellow card for foul play. Muir suffered a knee injury, which is always a worry, but the relatively good news is Muir is expected to only be sidelined for six weeks, which means he should be back in action for the start of the Champions Cup in December.

Both of Bath's starting centres from their first two wins of the season, Ollie Lawrence and Will Butt, have been nominated for the Gallagher Premiership Player of the Month award for September, such has been their form, meaning Redpath will have to fight to earn back his place in the starting XV. However, injuries elsewhere may come to his aid as Butt has been a regular on the wing during his time at the club and could well move over to fill one of the voids left out wide.

Centre Max Ojomoh is also working towards a December return from the foot injury he suffered in Bath’s pre-season defeat to Ealing Trailfinders in September, Murray confirmed.

In the front row, a significant bout of illness looks set to sideline Welsh international tighthead prop Archie Griffin for the next three Gallagher Premiership games, ruling him out against Bristol, Gloucester and Harlequins.

Meanwhile, Italian international hooker Hame Faiva has undergone surgery on a knee injury sustained during the pre-season round of games and there is currently no date set for his return.
