In one of the pictures, Farrell's Penguin is about to step into a flashy looking purple car complete with gold rims.

A close-up of the actor in costume reveals the extensive transformation he has undertaken in order to play the mobster once again, having previously transformed for 2022's The Batman.

Farrell is set to play the notorious villain for the upcoming eight-episode series from The Batman director Matt Reeves.

The spin-off show will lead on from the events of Reeves' film, as well as focus on The Penguin's rise within the Falcone crime family.

Starring alongside Farrell, How I Met Your Mother actress Cristin Milioti will play Gotham crime lord Carmine Falcone's daughter Sofia, while the recently announced The Mandalorian star Clancy Brown will play Salvatore Maroni – the man responsible for disfiguring Harvey Dent.

Opening up about the upcoming spin-off series, Farrell said that he was excited to get Cobblepot back on the streets of Gotham.

"The world that Matt Reeves created for The Batman is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot," Farrell said. "I couldn't be more excited about continuing this exploration of Oz as he rises through the darkened ranks to become The Penguin. [It] will be good to get him back on the streets of Gotham for a little madness and a little mayhem."
