Yahoo News Battlestar Galactica movie reboot signs up X-Men boss Simon Kinberg as writer
The upcoming Battlestar Galactica movie has enlisted X-Men's Simon Kinberg as writer and producer.
The new big screen reboot of the long-running franchise has been in the pipeline for a number of years, and it seems they've brought on board someone with just a bit of sci-fi experience.
Kinberg has overseen much of the X-Men franchise over the past decade or so, most recently directing Dark Phoenix and producing The New Mutants.

Speaking of joining Battlestar Galactica, Kinberg said (via The Hollywood Reporter): "Battlestar Galactica is one of the holy grails in science fiction, and I couldn't be more excited about bringing something new to the franchise, while honoring what's made it so iconic and enduring.
"I'm so grateful that [producer] Dylan [Clark] and my partners at Universal have trusted me with this incredible universe."

Galactica first launched in the late 1970s with a short-lived TV series, and later found a new lease of life in the 21st century with a relaunched show, which ran between 2004 and 2009 and received critical acclaim.
The new movie has previously had The Hunger Games' Francis Lawrence and Westworld's Lisa Joy attached as director and screenwriter, respectively.
Alongside the film, Galactica is set to get a new TV series reboot on Peacock courtesy of Mr Robot's Sam Esmail, which will "explore a new story within the mythology while staying true to the spirit of Battlestar".
