"We are delighted at how The Bay audiences have taken to new FLO, DS Jenn Townsend, played by the brilliant Marsha Thomason and how Jenn's arrival and her personal storyline has breathed new energy into the show. Together with [creator] Daragh [Carville] and all our amazing cast and crew, we can't wait to get going on the new series," executive producer Catherine Oldfield said.

ITV has promised that casting information will be released in due course. Marsha Thomason joined the third series of The Bay as DS Jenn Townsend, a replacement for DC Lisa Armstrong after lead star Morven Christie quit.

In The Bay's third series finale on Wednesday night, DS Townsend finally had a breakthrough in her quest to solve Saif's murder.

Former Lost star Thomason currently lives in Los Angeles so she had to uproot her entire family to come back to the UK for The Bay. Still, Thomason recently told Digital Spy she's willing to return for a fourth series.

"I had such a good time shooting it," she exclusively told us. "We were shooting it through COVID, which obviously makes everything so difficult. And yet we still managed, with our masks, to have a great time… Hopefully we'll get us a fourth series, and hopefully we won't have to wear masks!"

She then added: "I would [come back]. I cannot say enough, I enjoyed this job immensely and this role."

The Bay's third series is currently available to stream in its entirety on the ITV Hub.
