BBC acquires anime One Piece following Netflix's live action success
The BBC has announced that the anime series One Piece will be coming to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
Following the live-action adaptation's success on Netflix, the BBC will be releasing ten sagas from Eiichiro Oda’s classic anime this year as the exclusive UK home for the English-language dubbed episodes.
The first three sagas — which feature over 200 dubbed episodes from East Blue, Alabasta, and Skypiea — are released on September 1 on iPlayer, with all 1,085 episodes to be available on iPlayer before the end of the year.

"It’s a really exciting move to bring the One Piece franchise to UK audiences in the coming months," BBC Three and iPlayer Controller of Youth Audiences, Fiona Campbell, added. "With its captivating storytelling, rich characters and global fanbase, One Piece has become a cultural phenomenon and we're so excited to see how the fanbase will enjoy this huge canon of episodes available in English only on iPlayer."
The complete list of One Piece Sagas coming to iPlayer includes East Blue, Alabasta, Sky Island — Skypiea, Water Seven, Thriller Bark, Summit War, Fishman Island, Dressrosa, Whole Cake Island, and Land of Wano.

The original series premiered in 1999 and has been acclaimed as one of the most important animes of all time.
Meanwhile, the live-action version is gearing up for production of the second season, with Bridgerton star Charithra Chandran joining the show as Miss Wednesday.
The live-action One Piece ranked as Netflix's most-watched original series for the second half of 2023. The series stars Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy and Emily Rudd as Nami, with Sons of Anarchy's Katey Sagal set to join the second season as the iconic character Dr. Kureha.
One Piece season one is streaming now on Netflix.
