BBC to air The Tourist star's Australian mystery drama
The BBC is set to air Australian mystery drama The Last Anniversary in the UK.
The show, which is adapted from the Liane Moriarty book and counts Nicole Kidman as an executive producer, stars The Tourist’s Danielle Macdonald and A Discovery of Witches’ Teresa Palmer, and follows a woman who inherits a house on an island full of secrets.
The BBC has now confirmed that it has acquired the upcoming show, which is due to air on Binge in its home country.

“The Last Anniversary is an entertaining drama full of vivid characters, comedy and romance, with a compelling mystery at its heart – I’m sure BBC viewers will thoroughly enjoy their visit to beautiful Scribbly Gum Island,” said Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition.
The Last Anniversary is set on Scribbly Gum Island, “a place of many secrets” – notably the disappearance of a young couple decades prior that has made it a hotspot for true crime fans.
“When it comes to secrets, the three generations of women that call Scribbly Gum home, hold far more,” the synopsis adds.

“When Sophie Honeywell (Palmer) inherits a house on the island, left to her by her ex-boyfriend’s great-aunt Connie, it’s the fresh start she’s craving, despite the unwelcome reception she receives on arrival.
“Single and approaching 40, Sophie is intrigued by something else Connie left her – a promise that she might finally find the man of her dreams….”
The series also stars Good Omens’ Miranda Richardson, Colin From Accounts’ Helen Thomson, Animal Kingdom’s Susan Prior, The Dry’s Claude Scott-Mitchell, Barons’ Charlie Garber, Young Rock’s Uli Latukefu and Puberty Blues’ Jeremy Lindsay Taylor.
Nine Perfect Strangers’ Samantha Strauss is the lead writer, with Law & Order: Organized Crime’s John Polson directing.
The Last Anniversary will air on the BBC in the UK, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
