In a recent episode of Antiques Road Trip, things got heated between experts Philip Serrell and Catherine Southon as they embarked on their adventure.

The pair's competitive spirit was evident during a tense exchange in Coleshill, Warwickshire.

When Philip suggested avoiding high-priced, risky items, Catherine retorted, "So play it safe? Is that what you're saying? Are you giving me top tips? " Philip responded firmly with, "No, you can't play it safe! " An awkward silence filled their classic 1970 Citroen DS20 following the disagreement. Despite the tension, Catherine's decision to ignore Philip's advice may have been her downfall.

Armed with £200 each, they searched antique shops for items to sell at an auction in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Catherine's eclectic selection included an amber necklace, vintage compacts, ivory dominoes, a miniature magnifier, and a Harrods tennis racket.

However, these choices resulted in a loss, leaving her with just £172.30 by the end of the show. On the other hand, Philip's purchases, including a rusty cabinet, stone dogs, a butter churn, and a Mr Crabtree book, yielded a tidy profit at the auction, according to The Express.

Philip Serrell, well-known to fans of BBC TV's antique shows such as Bargain Hunt and Flog It!, reminisced about a hilarious episode from his long tenure on television, reports Yorkshire Live.

As an expert on Bargain Hunt since its inception in 1999, Philip engaged with viewers' curiosities, sharing a laugh over a memorable gaffe during filming: "I was demonstrating an Edwardian child's swing and I hit the cameraman with it," he chuckled.

"He went down like a sack of potatoes. It wasn't live but the camera was still running."

He also disclosed his frank attitude towards team discoveries, acknowledging, "I've always told them! But it might well prove me wrong and not the contestant."
