BBC Bargain Hunt drama as stall owner tells team 'get out' after insulting item

During the much-loved Bargain Hunt episode aired on Wednesday (September 11), tensions soared after a stall holder took offence to comments made by one of the contestants. The smash hit show, helmed by Christina Trevanion, was in for an unexpected turn as the blue team didn't hold back their thoughts on potential auction items. Julie and Sandy, part of the blue team competing against rivals Deborah and Julie in red, sparked a bit of turmoil during their stop at a Shepton Mallet stall.

Expert Thomas Forrester's suggestion of a quaint wooden piece, possibly a toy or planter, didnt quite charm the blue duo. Julie candidly expressed her concerns: "I think the damage is too much, I wouldn't want that." To further dismay, her teammate added: "I think it's dull," reports the Express.

Their blunt criticism elicited a fiery response from the vendor who exclaimed, "No! Get out, get out! " Leaving a mortified Thomas to say: "I'm so sorry," before swiftly exiting stage left.

While chuckles were eventually shared, viewers at home had mixed reactions, with one person asking: "This blue woman is sooo rude. What's wrong with her?" Others quickly sided with the red team, hoping they'd come out on top.

Nonetheless, the episode served up a surprise as Julie and Sandy managed a win, courtesy of a vibrant vase which they snagged for £80. The vase fetched a handsome £260 at auction, landing the blue team a tidy profit of £180. Despite a minor setback elsewhere, they amassed an impressive overall gain of £189.

They triumphed over the red team, who scraped together a modest profit of £38, leaving host Christina thoroughly impressed. At the close of the programme, she exclaimed: "This hardly ever happens!"

She continued: "Not only do I have pockets bulging with money. For both teams, I have golden gavels as well!"

The blue team's victory did not go unnoticed among the audience, with praise pouring in on social media. A viewer praised on X: "A good result all round, yes! " and another cheered, "Well done ladies."

Bargain Hunt airs weekdays at 12:15pm on BBC One.
