BBC Breakfast star rushed to hospital after 'unexpected' illness
A BBC Breakfast star has been rushed for an "unexpected" hospital stay as fans were left panicking. Former BBC Radio star Debbie Greenwood has issued a statement thanking the NHS for her hospital care after an "unexpected" stay.
The BBC star took to X, formerly Twitter, where she wrote: “A huge thank you to the amazing team at Kingston Hospital who looked after me so well for my unexpected 6 night stay. You were so, so kind, attentive, patient and cheerful.
“The hospital is incredibly busy – especially A&E. But still – what an NHS we have! Thank you, thank you.” In reply, a fan rushed to lend her support and commented in response to the health news: “Take care Debs, I hope you are on the mend.”

Debbie responded: “I am, thanks.” A second typed back, saying: “Sorry to hear you’ve been in hospital Debbie. Wishing you a speedy recovery.” And a third wrote in reply to the star: “I hope you’re better Debs, I’m sorry you’ve been poorly.”
"Whoops never spotted you well I'll - good to read you are on the mend. I hope you have Paul all kitted-out to be an attentive nurse," another wrote. Another said: "Glad to hear they looked after you so well Debbie. It’s unfortunate that we don’t hear about all the good work the NHS does from the media, sadly we only hear the bad stuff."
"Sorry to hear about your hospital stay hopefully you’re home and being looked after by Paul and your girls get well soon," wrote another. Greenwood grew up in Liverpool and is married to broadcaster Paul Coia, with whom she has two daughters.
She lives in Kingston upon Thames and her home contains part of the original red leather sofa used on Breakfast Time, which the BBC gave to Greenwood as a parting gift.
