BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay shares "proudest moment" after award win
BBC Breakfast host Jon Kay has earned a prize in a recent cooking contest, calling his victory one of his "proudest" achievements.
The presenter took part in his village show, where he was awarded the first prize in the men's cooking category thanks to his cheese and onion pasty.
Kay, who attended the event with his family, shared pictures of the dish on his Instagram account – calling his win "possibly the proudest moment of my entire life".

"My cheese and onion pasty won first prize in our village show (men's cooking category – yes, that's a thing)," he wrote in the caption.
"The looks of absolute astonishment on the faces of my wife and children will never be forgotten."
BBC Breakfast kicked off 2024 with an expanded runtime on weekdays, as confirmed by Kay on social media at the time.

Monday to Friday's editions of BBC Breakfast were altered to include 15 minutes' more news than previously.
"It's a big week for the #BBCBreakfast team," Kay wrote on Twitter/X on New Year's Day this year.
"From now on, the programme will be 15 minutes longer Mon-Fri. Then at 0930 our friends and neighbours @BBCMorningLive take over," he continued.
Kay also explained at the time that Morning Live would have a new, extended runtime as well.
The format change for BBC Breakfast's weekday shows followed a big on-air makeover for the programme.
Its studio at MediaCity Salford was given a new look and several high-tech upgrades in summer 2023 – its first refresh and expansion in over 10 years.
Kay and his BBC Breakfast co-host Sally Nugent had the honour of presenting the first show from the new-look studio.
BBC Breakfast airs every morning from 6am on BBC One.
