BBC Casualty teases heartbreaking scenes as Christmas special confirmed
BBC have confirmed the next series of Casualty will return to screens at the end of the year.
Kicking off in December with a Christmas special, the upcoming season looks as though there’s plenty of drama on the way.
At the end of Saturday night’s double-bill finale, viewers were treated to a cryptic teaser of what’s to come.
While The Fairytale of New York played in the background, a hand could be seen getting a blood bag from a fridge, with one wrapped up in a festive bow.
It then cut to the hospital bed which was covered in snow, while equipment lay scattered across it.

Following a simple red ribbon from the middle of the bed to the floor, it led to a heart monitor, which was flatlining.
As the camera continued to move out, a bloody footprint was seen in the snow, followed by a uniform on the floor, next to an open blood transit box
Finally the entire room was in focus as the hospital room was covered in snow.
Cutting to black, viewers saw the words “Casualty back this Christmas” appear
Speaking about the upcoming festive episode, the BBC said: “The Christmas special will celebrate the gift of giving and will be told in an innovative, format-breaking way. Further details will be revealed in due course.”
However, judging by the trailer, it looks as though it could mark the end of one beloved character’s time on the crime show.
It wasn’t long before viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the teaser.
One person commented: "The paramedic jacket [sic] I don’t think I can wait till Christmas."
Another added: "Nooo.. that's why it was a double bill tonight then @BBCCasualty. Can't wait til Christmas... that's ages away #Casualty That ending [sic]."
"THAT ENDING," tweed another fan.
Someone else said: "Omg I have chills this is scary but I can’t wait! Have to wait MONTHS again."
While another added: "Protect Jan, Teddy, Iain and Jacob at all costs."
"Looks like a paramedic is gonna be dead in the Christmas special…but who?" asked another.
The series finale was filled with explosive scenes and heartbreaking moments as Siobhan McKenzie finally discovered the truth.
In tense scenes, it was revealed her friend Stevie Nash was the person who had been seeing her husband Rich Walker.
Although Stevie was quick to call the affair off after learning who he was married to, the damage was already done.
As the pair had a conversation, it was clear the damage had been done as Stevie tried to apologise continuously.
Siobhan said: “I can be professional, I might even manage polite, but we’re not friends not, anymore.”
Will the pair be able to mend their friendship in the next series?
Casualty is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
