J K Rowling's troubled private detective Strike returns to our screens this month with much of it being filmed in Falmouth and St Mawes.

Filming for the new series Strike – Troubled Blood took place back in March with scenes being filmed on Prince of Wales Pier and The Palacio Lounge on The Moor.

The books were written under JK Rowling's psuedomyn Robert Galbraith and the TV series stars Tom Burke as the eponymous Strike.

The series also stars Holly Grainger as Robin Ellacott who recently starred in the successful BBC spy thriller The Capture.

The is the fifth season of the series which returns to BBC One, HBO and Warner Bros. at 9pm on Sunday, December 11 with all four hour long episodes then available on iPlayer.

Burke (The Souvenir, True Things About Me) and Grainger (The Capture, Animals) Private detective Cormoran Strike is visiting his family in Cornwall when he’s approached by a woman asking for help finding her mother, Margot Bamborough, who went missing under mysterious circumstances in 1974.

Strike’s never tackled a cold case before let alone one forty years old, but despite the slim chance of success, he’s intrigued and takes it on, adding to the long list of cases that he and his partner in the agency Robin Ellacott are currently working on. Robin herself is also juggling a messy divorce and unwanted male attention as well as battling her own feelings about Strike.

As Strike and Robin investigate Margot’s disappearance, they come up against a fiendishly complex case with a psychopathic serial killer and witnesses who cannot all be trusted. They learn that even cases decades old can prove to be deadly.

Sue Tully is directing. Her credits include Too Close, Strike - Lethal White, Line of Duty, Tin Star, The A Word and The Musketeers.

HBO has North American rights and Warner Bros. is selling the show internationally.
