The BBC has confirmed Amandaland is officially coming to screens in 2025.

The new Motherland spin-off, titled and centred on character Amanda (played by Lucy Punch) will be coming to BBC One and iPlayer in February with six half-hour episodes.

The broadcaster also revealed further casting details for the show, including Derry Girls actor Siobhan McSweeney and Line of Duty's Rochenda Sandall.

Other cast additions include Samuel Anderson, who reprised his role as Fingers in the Gavin & Stacey 2024 Christmas special, plus Peter Serafinowicz and Ekow Quartey of Trying and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban fame.

They join the previously announced Punch, plus Motherland stars Joanna Lumley, who plays Felicity, Amanda's insecure mother, and Philippa Dunne, as over-protective mother Anne Flynn.

The series will follow a post-divorced Amanda raising Manus and Georgie, now at secondary school and entering their teenage years, dealing with "modern motherhood horrors like teenage drinking, fake Instagram accounts and eco anxiety".

She's downsized and relocated to South Harlesden, but that hasn't stopped Felicity (Lumley) from being constantly around, providing "backhanded compliments and veiled snipes about her new home."

As for Anne (Dunne), while she enjoyed a brief spell of freedom from Amanda, she's now firmly back as her minion "navigating the social scene with the other parents" at the children’s new school.

"I was genuinely sad having to say goodbye to Motherland," says co-creator and Bad Sisters star Sharon Horgan. "There's such a fondness for that show and those characters.

"So it was a real thrill to get to pick up the further adventures of Amanda and Anne, not to mention Felicity. Lucy, Phillipa and Joanna are top of their game in these roles and are joined by an incredibly funny and talented new cast.

"Can't wait to showcase the next challenges of parenthood and the very particular kind of friendship the school gates bring."

Amandaland will be released in February on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

All three series of Motherland are available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
