The BBC has given us our first look at Jed Mercurio's latest drama Bodyguard, which is not to be confused with the 1992 classic starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.

A soon-to-be classic in its own right, though, Mercurio's Bodyguard stars the ever-wonderful Keeley Hawes as the UK's home secretary and Game of Thrones' Richard Madden as her bodyguard.

Mixing high drama with salacious political exploits, Bodyguard follows ex-military officer David Budd (Madden) as he returns home with a new job protecting Julia Montague (Hawes).

You can watch your very first look at Bodyguard below.

Hoping to make us all feel a little better about that long wait before the next season of Line of Duty drops, Mercurio has said he's "hugely flattered" to be working with Hawes and Madden – who starred in his Lady Chatterley's Lover adaptation – again.

"I'm delighted to be working with Richard Madden and once again with Jed Mercurio, and the hugely talented team behind Line Of Duty," Keeley added last October.

"Bodyguard is such an exciting project. I can't wait to get started."

Bodyguard, which filmed in London and also stars the likes of Peaky Blinders' Sophie Rundle and Cucumber's Vincent Franklin, will be arriving at BBC One "soon".

As for series five of Line of Duty? Well, that isn't expected to return until 2019, we're afraid.
