Escape to the Country's presenter Ginny Buckley was on a quest to find Huw and Ele their dream home in the countryside, as seen in a 2021 episode of the show. The couple had a particularly poignant reason for wanting to move, and dog enthusiast Ele struggled to keep her emotions under control during the search.

Huw and Ele were looking to trade their current Harpenden, Hertfordshire home for a new one in High Weald, Kent, with a budget of £600,000. They were searching for a detached three-bedroom property with direct access to a garden and a utility room. However, before starting the search, they revealed the heartbreaking reason behind their wish for a new beginning, reports OK!.

Huw disclosed: "I had an accident where I fell down the stairs and broke my arm quite badly and that led to some surgery which didn't work very well. There were six months where I couldn't go upstairs and had to sleep downstairs."

Ele chimed in: "It put a lot of strain on our relationship," and Huw added: "Quite a few months later when we were getting our lives back on track, our first dog Bree unfortunately just had a seizure out of nowhere. After trying out medication and different treatments we had to make the decision to put her to sleep which is something I will always associate with this house."

Ele revealed: "At the same time we found out that Chips, which was the first puppy we got while living here, was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia. So Chips had to have her surgery as well-meaning she couldn't go on any walks. Our future in this house which we had been planning with our two lovely dogs had gone in a matter of days. We thought we'd just sell the house and just make a whole brand new start somewhere else and take it from there."

Huw and Ele couldn't hide their fondness for Ginny's mystery house, admitting they could immediately see their lives playing out inside its walls. Ele enthused: "The mystery house has absolutely given us so much to think about. Everywhere you look there's something else to see. The outside space is what we said was going to make the difference and this place is unbelievable. It's almost like a magical garden. This garden brings with it a sense of joy, it's a real happy garden."

In a touching moment, Ele confessed: "I'm getting a bit emotional, sorry but I guess that what's we really need our new happy place." In a bid to know more, Ginny asked: "Put me out of my misery, are there any [properties] that have really caught your eye?"

Huw revealed: "All the properties we've seen have been really nice could happily live in any of them but some houses feel more right for you than others and that's how the mystery house felt."

Ginny picked up on Ele's emotional reaction to the property, remarking: "You seem quite emotional in that house," which prompted Ele to admit: "Yes, I've calmed down a lot now. Straight away as soon as we looked at it from the road, it had an 'us' feel about it."

The couple expressed their desire to revisit the property for a second viewing before making a final decision on whether it was indeed the home of their dreams.
