BBC eviscerates The Sun over staff 'sleeping on the job' exposé
The Sun went all 'nice to see my licence fee being put to good use!' yesterday on its front page, the headline yelling 'HERE IS THE SNOOZE' alongside photos appearing to show BBC News Channel staff asleep at their desks.
They didn't take the jab lying down however, issuing some stunning comebacks.
The BBC's Middle East correspondent, Quentin Sommerville, kicked things off with this tweet:
It’s true @TheSun we do sleep on the job. Our work is a bit taxing at times. @BBCNews doesn’t do lazy journalism. How about you? pic.twitter.com/5VBjL9zlEl

Then the BBC Press Office waded in with this stinging rebuttal:
Even with our eyes closed, it’s good to know the public trusts BBC News more than the Sun. pic.twitter.com/RBogyQSjVa

BBC journalist Robert Coxwell, meanwhile, killed them with silliness:
...shift done. Guess I should get up and go home. Did I miss anything? pic.twitter.com/1rlX8PNGjf

The Sun mockingly handed out coffees outside the Beeb's London HQ yesterday, as Tory MP Peter Bone genuinely called for a House of Commons debate on the matter.
