The BBC and ITV have confirmed plans for a new streaming service for UK viewers – the aptly-named BritBox.

The BritBox streaming service is already available in the US and Canada, with over half a million subscribers.

BritBox is an original streaming service which brings loads of British boxsets together in one place. It's even got daily highlights of Good Morning Britain.

It's promising viewers the biggest collection of British-created content across any streaming service, and it's also planning to commission new, original shows from British companies as well.

The broadcasters are in the concluding phase of talks, and now working on a formal legal agreement ahead of the service's launch. The BBC and ITV expect to add other partners to BritBox.

Carolyn McCall, CEO of ITV, commented: "I am really pleased that ITV and the BBC are at the concluding stage of discussions to launch a new streaming service.
